What we missed out on, that seems to be the theme of this year!
I’m talking about something in particular though, one of my favorite things to do, especially during the summer, seeing movies!
July was supposed to be a big one too, I was so excited about it!
A few of the movies that I was especially excited about were movies from some of my favorite directors and actors.
First up:
- A silly comedy from my twin, Ryan Reynolds, “Free Guy” was supposed to be released July 3rd, but has been pushed back until December. It stars Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and my favorite, Taika Waititi.
- Next up, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” I know it probably won’t be that great, but they have the original Ghostbusters Ecto:1! Originally slated for July 10th, it’s now being released next March. Directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman (Director of the original Ghostbusters movies), it stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd, while Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts all reprise their original roles.
- Christopher Nolan’s next epic, brain-twisting, confusing sci-fi adventure, “Tenet”, was supposed to be released July 17th, but was pushed back twice, and has now been postponed indefinitely. It stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh.
- One of my favorite TV shows, “Bob’s Burgers”, was supposed to have it’s own movie too! Originally slated for July 17th, the same weekend as Tenet, what a weekend that would have been! It’s now been postponed until next April. It features the voice cast from the show.
- And the fifth movie of July that I was excited about, and probably most excited about, was Wes Anderson’s latest film, “The French Dispatch.” Originally slated to come out July 24th, it has now been postponed until October, for now. It has a stacked cast, of course, including Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Steve Park, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Liev Schreiber, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Saoirse Ronan, Jason Schwartzman, Anjelica Huston, Elisabeth Moss, Lois Smith, Christoph Waltz, Cecile de France, Guillaume Gallienne, Tony Revolori, Rupert Friend, Henry Winkler, Bob Balaban, and Hippolyte Girardot.
I’m sad that all of these movies have been postponed, but it’s obviously for the better. Could you imagine a better line-up for summer though?? What other movies from this summer were you excited about?
I was pretty excited for a Quiet Place 2: Noise Cancellation.
