Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review

Alright, so since it’s already been out for over a week I feel like I’m finally allowed to write a review about it, so here it is! (Spoilers obviously)

So I’ll start by saying that it was a great movie, super fun and entertaining to watch. If you didn’t see it opening weekend you definitely missed out, it’s the best when the whole audience is cheering when the theme song starts or the opening credits start scrolling, it was the same with Jurassic World, you can just tell that everyone is just as excited as you are.

Now, if you’ve seen it already you probably feel the same way a little bit, but it almost felt like a reboot of episode 4, in that the plot was very similar, Rey started out in the desert, just like Luke, randomly roped into the adventure and finds out that she has the force, like Luke, the bad guy used to be good but went to the dark side, lots of family drama, family counseling sessions seriously needed, Han Solo and Chewbacca randomly roped in, the Empire is strong again, now called the First Order, they rebuild the Death Star, only bigger, but it literally has the same weak spot as the older one, poor construction, BUT despite all of that, it was a super fun movie to watch, almost felt like a much needed update to episode 4, the action was better, obviously the effects were better and the writing was a lot better, sorry Lucas.

Can we talk about the spoilers? What was more surprising to you, that Kylo Ren was Han Solo and Leia’s son or that he killed Han Solo? On a side note, I think Harrison Ford only agreed to be in the film on one condition, that they kill him off in the first one so he didn’t have to be in any more, what a grumpy old man.

Anyway, one thing that I was a little disappointed about was the casting choice of Kylo Ren, he wasn’t scary looking enough, he didn’t have some crazy scar or an old decrepit face, he looked like he was in a shampoo commercial or something, I mean come on! Make him repulsive, or at least don’t show his face in this one and have him be in the sequel or something.

Probably the best part of the film was BB-8, the best droid ever! Funny, cute and cool.

I would definitely rate this a Go See It Right Now!
