Alita: Battle Angel Review

Just saw Alita: Battle Angel in Dolby 3D, I actually really enjoyed it, didn’t have that many qualms with it, wow! Minor spoilers ahead, so qualm yourselves!

Directed by Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Spy Kids, Sin City, quite a range!) and written by James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis. The film stars Rosa Salazar as Alita, a cyborg girl discovering her past life while living in the 26th century after “The Fall”. The planet is in a dystopian state, you know, the typical futuristic sci-fi backdrop.

Well anyway, there’s a whole thing where she finds out about her backstory and decides she’s born to fight and must reach the sky city of Zalem where a reclusive, evil leader lives. You know, the typical futuristic sci-fi backdrop. It ends in a cliff hanger to set up at least 1 sequel, if not a full trilogy, which I’m totally here for!

The Good: good special effects, looked great in 3D, some really solid battle scenes, definitely see it in the theaters.

The Bad: cheesy dialogue from Mr. Cameron (To be expected), too many characters conveniently arriving at the right place at the right time, acting was sub par, and worst of all she never introduced herself as Alita: Battle Angel! I wanted her to be like “Hello, my name is Alita, Battle Angel, now prepare to die!” Bad!

The Ugly: Wtf is up with her huge eyes? I mean really, no other cyborg had big eyes! Ugly!

Overall I’d give it a
