I know it’s 2019 and no one cares about 2017 movies anymore, but qualm you! Read my list anyway!
This year (2017, I started writing this at the beginning of 2018) I’ve seen more movies in the theaters than I ever have before! A whopping 27 movies! Most of them were thanks to MoviePass, which WAS amazing, not anymore though! I’ll qualm about MoviePass later!
I’ve seen a total of 42 movies from 2017 as well, which is crazy!
So here’s my top 10:
10 – Brigsby Bear: A great Indy comedy, good plot twist and a sweet ending, definitely recommend!
9 – The Disaster Artist: If you love The Room by Tommy Wiseau, not to be confused with Room, veeeery different, then you’ll love The Disaster Artist. James Franco was great, and I loved the insight into Tommy’s creative process. Watch The Room first.
8 – Wind River: Very intense and dark, loved it! Great acting by Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner.
7 – Kong: Skull Island: I really enjoyed it, some cheesy moments, but it was just a fun action flick. Good special effects as well.
6 – Logan Lucky: Another great Indy comedy, if you can call it Indy with such big names. Loved the accents too, and Daniel Craig. “Did he say cauliflower?”
If you thought 10 through 6 were all good movies, then just wait until you see 5 through 1!
5 – The Lego Batman Movie: I thought it was hilarious, maybe even more than the first Lego Movie, gasp! Great voice casting, Will Arnett is a great choice as Batman. Loved all the throwbacks to old Batman movies, especially when they made fun of Adam West. Zach Galifianakis was great as the Joker too.
4 – Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle: Surprisingly fun. The Rock and Kevin Hart are great together. Jack Black is hilarious, as well as Karen Gillan. They did a good job of straying away from just doing a remake, but I wish there were a few more challenges for them to overcome; it was just running away from a dirt bike gang, snake-taming, flying away from a stampede of angry rhinos, running away from Jaguars and riding a dirt bike to the top of a mountain. I guess when I write that all out it sounds like quite a bit, but whatever, qualm yourself down! I just think they could have used a few more challenges. At least include the crazy monkeys and giant spiders! That would have been awesome to see, oh well, maybe in the sequel!
3 – Get Out: A great original story, awesome plot twist and social commentary. Great characters, especially the brother, he was so creepy! I didn’t know what he would do next, kept me on the edge of my seat! Jordan Peele has a bright directorial future!
2 – Paddington 2: Incredible, absolutely deserves its 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. One of my favorite movies ever. It has one of the cutest scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie, it’s towards the beginning, watch it and find out.
And now for my favorite favorite of my favorites from 2017!!!!
1 – Thor: Ragnarok: Top 5 Marvel movies for me for sure. I love Taika Waititi’s work anyway, so the sense of humor is right up my alley! The plot was fun, acting was great, loved the humor sprinkled throughout. This was definitely my favorite movie of 2017, very re-watchable.
So those are my favorite movies from waaaaaay back in 2017. If you don’t agree with me, go qualm yourself! And tell me what your list was below!
